I’m telling you; it is the secret sauce to enlivening the work atmosphere - whether you’re in person or virtual. A well-placed joke or a light-hearted anecdote can be the comedic relief that transforms a mundane Monday into a Fri-yay. Levity is such an important piece of navigating the complexities of leading teams - and we all know it’s good for the soul. 

Another way to spark a boost in morale is empowerment. Give your team the autonomy to make decisions and contribute ideas. Yes, it requires trust, but if you trust that you hired correctly and trained them well, then this shouldn’t be a problem for you. 

Let’s not overlook the magic of team building. Escape room anyone, or perhaps an in-office scavenger hunt? These little breaks in the monotony foster camaraderie, build trust and memories that last long after the activity is over. Nine years later and we still talk about that game of rock paper scissors!

It goes without saying that open communication breeds trust and multi directional transparency. Part of this is encouraging team members but it’s also about navigating change together, being authentic and brave enough to show a little vulnerability. Being in the trenches with your team and saying I don’t know how we’re going to do it - but we’re going to figure it out together will create innovation and motivation as you struggle and overcome obstacles as a team.
